    Director of Facilities & Logistics
    Organization: Baptist Medical Group (BMG)
    Department: Facilities & Logistics
    Reports To: Executive Director of Shared Services
    Position Summary
    The Director of Facilities & Logistics provides strategic and operational leadership for all facilities, construction, capital projects, and logistics functions across Baptist Medical Group. As a non-profit healthcare organization, BMG depends on safe, compliant, and efficiently managed facilities to support high-quality patient care and clinical operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that all medical office buildings, clinics, and support facilities are planned, maintained, and enhanced in alignment with BMG's mission and the standards of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation. The Director partners closely with executive leadership, clinical leaders, and external partners to deliver facilities solutions that promote patient safety, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and fiscal stewardship.
    Key Responsibilities
    Strategic Leadership & Mission Alignment
    • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all facilities and logistics operations supporting BMG's ambulatory and administrative environments.
    • Align facilities and capital planning initiatives with BMG's mission, patient care priorities, and organizational growth strategies.
    • Serve as a key advisor to the Executive Director of Shared Services on facilities-related risks, opportunities, and long-term planning.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop facilities, construction, and project management staff.

    Capital Planning & Financial Stewardship
    • Develop and oversee multi-year capital expenditure plans based on facility conditions, clinical needs, and organizational priorities.
    • Prepare, manage, and monitor capital and operating budgets, ensuring responsible use of non-profit resources.
    • Review and approve project budgets, change orders, and capital requests.
    • Measure final project costs against approved budgets and provide transparent reporting to executive leadership.

    Construction & Project Management
    • Oversee all phases of construction and renovation projects, including tenant improvements, common area improvements, and major building system replacements.
    • Direct project scope definition, feasibility analysis, scheduling, and coordination with clinical and operational stakeholders.
    • Manage design development, bidding processes, contractor selection, and construction administration.
    • Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved architectural plans, building standards, and healthcare operational requirements.
    • Ensure timely project closeout, documentation, and post-project evaluation.

    Facilities Operations & Building Systems
    • Provide oversight of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, security, fire alarm, emergency systems, roofing, and building automation systems.
    • Ensure compatibility of new systems with existing infrastructure and continuity of clinical operations.
    • Evaluate facility needs, including the assessment of sub-metering and energy efficiency opportunities.
    • Oversee the Work Order Management system to ensure preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and healthcare best practices.

    Vendor & Contract Management
    • Manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and third-party service providers.
    • Solicit, review, and approve proposals for facilities services and construction projects.
    • Negotiate, execute, and manage service agreements and construction contracts.
    • Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with contract terms, safety standards, and service-level expectations.

    Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable Life Safety, ADA, City, State, and Federal regulations, as well as Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation standards.
    • Support healthcare regulatory readiness by maintaining facilities that meet accreditation, safety, and operational requirements.
    • Read and interpret lease agreements, ground leases, POAs, and related financial and legal documents.
    • Identify and mitigate facilities-related risks to protect patients, staff, visitors, and organizational assets.

    Reporting & Collaboration
    • Provide regular executive-level reports on project timelines, capital spending, risks, and facilities performance.
    • Collaborate with clinical leadership, operations, IT, and finance to ensure facilities support patient care delivery.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

    Qualifications
    Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, construction management, or capital project leadership.
    • Prior leadership experience in healthcare, non-profit, or similarly regulated environments preferred.

    Knowledge & Skills
    • Strong knowledge of healthcare facilities, commercial building systems, and construction practices.
    • Proven ability to manage complex capital projects and large budgets.
    • Experience interpreting architectural drawings, contracts, leases, and financial documents.
    • Strong vendor negotiation, contract management, and cost-control skills.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
    • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to service excellence.

    Working Conditions
    • Primarily office-based with regular visits to clinics, medical office buildings, and construction sites.
    • Occasional travel between BMG locations as required.
