Job Position: Python Developer
Job Description:
This position will be focused on aggregating information from telecommunications systems, with vendors ranging from cisco, avaya, juniper, arista and others, internal systems, and in-house tools that generate logs and require log injestion/aggregation. Aggregation tooling will also be required to extract data from management software used for these devices as well, such as Sevone, netmri, and spectrum. We are searching for a motivated engineer to automated application onboarding into Splunk and in the integration, as well as designing integrations for useful visualizations of this data
The selected candidate will join a team responsible for one of the largest Splunk deployments worldwide. The individual should be passionate about solving problems, with an interest in Python development and infrastructure automation.
Responsibilities:
The opportunity to drive complex logging infrastructure at scale
You will work with a team of incredibly talented and dedicated peers while pushing the technology to its limits.
-A chance to share best practices and create innovative solutions to push user adoption and maximize the value of logging products.
-Participate in every stage of the lifecycle of an IT system ranging from gathering the requirement and refining user stories, designing solutions and writing code to helping our support organization to answer the most interesting user questions
-Work with Kafka and Big Data Technologies to handle TB of data each day
Required skills:
-Experience working with Python
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills
-Prior experience in working with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, using JIRA, following either Scrum or Kanban Agile methodology
-Working experience of regular expressions in data extraction from log files.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
-Comfortable with customers with focus on customer interaction and client experience.3+ years of Proficiency with Unix and databases
-Experience in infrastructure deployment automation
Desired Skills:
-Advanced degree in a relevant field is desirable.
-Experience working with large, unfiltered data sets.
-Experience with Splunk preferred
-Work closely with a cross functional team to design new features and resolve issues as they arise
-Experience analyzing packet captures (wireshark) a plus
-Due to the roles integration within APM team, prior experience in Application Performance Management (APM) is a big plus.Database experience with at least one of the following: MySQL, DB2 or MSSQL
-Experience with various authentication methods such as SPNEGO, Siteminder, Kerberos, and LDAP
-Understanding of enterprise-networking technologies: switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization technologies, and so forth
-Understanding of enterprise-architecture concepts: 3-tier architecture, high-availability/disaster recovery (active-active data centers, redundant switch stacks, and so forth)
-Understanding of the OSI model and working knowledge of the key protocols from Layer 2 through Layer 7 including IP, TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
The Brokerage distributed systems engineering team is aggregating dozens of data sources into searchable repository. This will enable us to corelate many data points that had historically been locked away in disparate system, and analysts interested in the data spent hours retrieving and analyzing the data
This individual will be responsible for designing an endpoint store, the reliable transport of the data, and the integration with various commercial and in-house developed products that generate logs.
