Job description

Who we are:

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.

What you'll do:

  • Direct and coordinate integrated lab operations from pre-test preparation through execution, serving as the focal for test sequencing, anomaly response, and troubleshooting efforts
  • Utilize lab test equipment and Archer's simulation environment to set up test cases, validate system requirements, and investigate issues
  • Lead collaborative efforts with aircraft system engineers to develop test plans and procedures
  • Integrate new capabilities in the labs, develop design verification test procedures, and verify functionality
  • Feedback issues found during integrated lab testing to respective system and software teams, and collaborate on resolution and subsequent verification
  • Occasional support of on-aircraft functional test and troubleshooting activities, including off-site support at Salinas, CA
  • Support integrated lab test scheduling coordination
  • Develop and maintain integrated test lab operating procedures

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in aircraft system integration and test, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading or directing test operations, including briefing crews, managing anomalies, and making real-time execution decisions
  • Technical understanding of test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, sensors) and their applicable use in a lab and aircraft test environment
  • Ability to quickly interpret wiring diagrams and perform hands-on electrical troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools for aircraft and system troubleshooting
  • Holistic understanding of aircraft systems and their impact on higher-level vehicle capability
  • Familiarity with communication protocols including CAN, A429, and serial/Ethernet interfaces
  • Comfortable working on and around aircraft in both lab and flight line environments
  • Ability to travel as required, including periodic off-site support
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with HIL and/or real-time simulation environments
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and data processing
  • Experience with fly-by-wire systems or high-voltage powertrain systems
  • Experience maintaining and operating aircraft
  • General aviation pilot certificate or equivalent flight experience
Archer is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to job applicants with physical or mental disabilities, and those with sincerely held religious beliefs. Applicants who may require reasonable accommodation for any part of the application or hiring process should provide their name and contact information to Archer's People Team at people@archer.com.
