    Overview
    This position will be worked hybrid (Monday through Thursday in office, Fridays WFH) in either our Cleveland, OH or Jersey City, NJ office.
    Position Overview: AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is a multi-national property and casualty insurance holding company that is looking for an Accountant I to join the Specialty Risk Division in Jersey City, NJ or Cleveland, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of internal journal entries and account reconciliations and assist with external financial reporting prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    The expected salary range for this role is $46,600 - 65,000.
    Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a wide range of factors considered in making the compensation decision, including, but not limited to, candidate skills, experience, education and training, the scope and responsibilities of the role, as well as market and business considerations.
    Responsibilities
    • Calculate and record quarterly activity for assigned business partners on multiple companies including insurance carrier(s) and obligor company(s)
    • Trend analysis for assigned business partners; investigate and provide commentary on fluctuations for management
    • Accurately and timely completion of assigned account reconciliations
    • Daily monitoring and processing of batch ACH transactions for Third Party Administrator company
    • Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements, and related footnote disclosures for Obligor company(s)
    • Participate in testing and reconciling of data in preparation for year-end reporting requirements for obligor companies
    • Assist with non-routine transactions and ad-hoc accounting projects upon request
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting
    • 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and/or audit
    • Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting
    • Well-developed organizational and time management skills, consistently meets deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • High attention to detail and accuracy, actively seeks to improve processes
    • Curious and eager to learn
    • Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
