    Job description

    The Building People, LLC is seeking a General Engineer to support the 81st U.S. Army Reserve Directorate of Public Works (DPW) in Columbia, South Carolina. This position provides an opportunity to support Army Reserve facilities and infrastructure programs that directly contribute to mission readiness.

    The successful candidate will work with Army Reserve personnel and multidisciplinary teams to provide engineering, planning, and construction support for real property and infrastructure projects throughout the region.

    Position Summary

    The General Engineer provides technical and project support across the planning, design, and execution phases of Army Reserve construction and real property projects. The position is well suited for individuals with engineering, construction management, superintendent, or foreman experience who possess a strong understanding of construction methods, project coordination, infrastructure systems, and facilities management.

    Candidates with significant construction leadership experience, including Construction Foremen, Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Construction Managers, are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical and engineering support throughout planning, design, and execution phases of Army Reserve construction projects.
    • Support Asset Development Planning (ADP), Master Planning initiatives, and regional forecasting activities.
    • Perform civil engineering analysis and provide recommendations for infrastructure projects involving roads, bridges, utilities, water systems, and related facilities.
    • Support both office-based planning efforts and field-based construction oversight activities.
    • Conduct field surveys, utility vault evaluations, and drawing verification activities.
    • Collect and document field data supporting real property and facilities management requirements.
    • Prepare technical reports and field data collection documentation within required project timelines.
    • Develop technical drawings, scopes of work, and engineering documentation.
    • Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
    • Review plans and construction documents for compliance with Army standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and applicable codes.
    • Support an estimated six infrastructure projects annually.
    • Prepare design packages and construction oversight reports following task completion requirements.
    • Perform periodic travel in support of site assessments and project execution activities. Approximately fifteen (15) site visits per year, averaging three (3) days in duration, are anticipated. All travel will be coordinated and approved in advance by the Government COR.
