We're looking for a Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in civil engineering and a California Professional Engineering (P.E.) license to lead Transportation Infrastructure projects in Southern California. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in client-facing leadership, enjoys mentoring teams, and is passionate about delivering impactful transportation solutions. You'll collaborate across BKF teams to manage project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and anchor our transportation presence in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and project management for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, traffic studies, and rehabilitation initiatives
  • Coordinate permitting, technical studies, and client communications to ensure smooth project execution
  • Leverage internal talent and build a local network to support scalable project delivery
  • Champion quality, innovation, and continuous improvement in transportation engineering
  • Mentor junior staff and demonstrate leadership potential to grow a local team
  • Promote BKF's full range of services and actively cross-sell to regional clients
  • Build visibility in the North Bay by cultivating strong relationships with clients and business partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required
  • 10 years of experience in transportation infrastructure, including design and project management of roadway, transit, or related civil projects
  • Strong background in transportation design, including roadway geometry, traffic control, grading, and utility coordination
  • Proven ability to lead planning studies, master plans, and infrastructure projects from concept through delivery and completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with new and existing clients, internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in building client relationships and strategic positioning for project opportunities
  • Entrepreneurial drive to pursue new transportation projects and establish a local presence, with the potential to grow and lead a small team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to pursue and win transportation infrastructure projects in the North Bay

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.  Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.

  • The typical base salary range for this position is $123,000.00 - $175,000.00 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly position paid bi-weekly.
