Job description

Join Our Team as a Principal Engineer – Substation

Be a part of our dynamic Engineering & Construction Business Unit in Juno Beach, FL. As a Principal Engineer, you'll lead engineering assignments from conception through execution, specializing in utility-scale solar, BESS, and power plant operations. Your role will involve project management, technical analysis, and leading multi-disciplinary teams to optimize energy infrastructure designs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all assigned substation projects from early-stage development to construction and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with the Early-Stage Project Manager to define engineering requirements and scope.
  • Provide training and technical oversight to external engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to secure substation sites and necessary permits.
  • Manage project material orders to mitigate risks and control costs.
  • Support Transmission Services with interconnection documentation reviews and ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance design integration.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in planning and executing large-scale energy projects.
  • Expertise in system design, grid optimization, and risk management.
  • Experience in substation design and engineering of high voltage projects.
Preferences:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience with ETAP, EDISON, and other computational tools.
  • 7 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
