Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments on paediatric patients, reviewing medical history, allergies, current medications, and anaesthesia consent.
- Establish IV access, administer pre-operative medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery in a child-friendly manner.
- Verify surgical site, confirm informed consent, and complete pre-operative checklists in compliance with facility and Joint Commission standards.
- Communicate patient status and outstanding concerns clearly to the OR and anaesthesia teams to facilitate a safe, smooth operative experience.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered OH RN licence.
- Minimum 1 year recent pre-operative or peri-operative paediatric nursing experience required.
- Current BLS/CPR and PALS required.
