The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Community Fundraising team is charged with generating revenue for WWP programs and services by working with supporters, community members, volunteers, and vendors to ensure successful local community fundraising events.
The Community Fundraising Intern contributes to WWP's overall success by actively researching and identifying new community fundraising audiences. This role contributes to the development of innovative resources and strategies that enhance the team's ability to engage local communities and advance WWP's mission and programs.


APPLICANT ALERT: This is a paid internship opportunity for qualified applicants, and requires in-person attendance, three days each week at our Jacksonville, FL location. This is not a virtual position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation and mailing of donor letters, incentives, thank-you communications, and outreach materials as needed.

  • Gain exposure to donor communications by reviewing inquiry types, learning response standards, and assisting with drafting suggested responses

  • Import data accurately into the donor tracking system.

  • Assist with research on current fundraising channels and help compile reports identifying potential growth opportunities.

  • Learn how social media supports fundraising efforts by helping identify community groups and audiences that may be appropriate for outreach and promotion.

  • Support the creation of engaging resources for various fundraising channels, including flyers, thank-you emails, engagement activities, and event challenges to increase participation and supporter engagement.

  • Participate in team discussions to review existing Community Fundraising materials and share observations or research findings related to potential enhancements.

  • Build foundational knowledge of Community Fundraising operations, Business Development objectives, and Wounded Warrior Project's mission through training, team meetings, and guided assignments.

  • Learn and participate in other events or tasks as applicable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and their role in fundraising.

  • Enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn; willing to take initiative with direction and support.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Mission-driven, guided by core values, and a pleasure to work with.

  • One year of customer service experience.
