Job description

Job Summary
We are looking for a part-time Nurse Practitioner to support medical and safety efforts at a client location in South Haven, MI. This project is anticipated to last multiple years, with exact timing to be determined by client requirements.
The Nurse Practitioner will provide support to the onsite Occupational Health Nurse as needed to support medical and safety efforts at the site.
Schedule: 1 day per week; 4 hours; 3:00pm - 7:00pm. No Fridays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Employee Care, Treatment and Testing:
    • Perform Power Industrial Vehicle examinations in accordance with site requirements
    • Perform Hazmat physicals in accordance with OSHA regulatory requirements
    • Provide return-to-work clearances and adjust or modify return-to-work restrictions to ensure the employee can safely perform job duties
    • Provides first-aid, medical treatment and appropriate follow-up to occupationally ill/injured workers consistent with appropriate Workers' Compensation standards and laws.
    • Provides first-aid or minimal incidental care and treatment and appropriate follow-up for non-occupational conditions consistent with appropriate standards for an employer on-site clinic and laws.
    • Assists onsite RN in performing regulatory testing as needed.
    • Performs effective case management follow-up for injuries/illness and absences.
    • Provides counseling to employees on employment risk reduction initiatives as needed.
  • Clinic Management
    • Maintains frequent communication with Medical Director and WorkCare Clinic manager and Program Manager-Onsite Services regarding all clinic issues and client requests.
  • Medical Records and Private Health Information
    • Maintains employee health records and databases.
    • Computer data entry of all employee demographic and health information.
    • Responsibly handles and guards Protected Health Information.
    • Follows all applicable HIPAA laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Develops and maintains good relationships with client management, medical and safety personnel, co-workers and WorkCare supervisors and managers.
    • Communicates with appropriate client management frequently.
    • Provides timely, accurate reporting as dictated by client, WorkCare and by law.
  • Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.

Education and Experience
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Michigan
  • Must have unrestricted DEA license.
  • Current ACLS/BLS certifications.
  • A minimum of 3 years advanced practice experience with prior occupational medicine preferred.

Skills and Competencies
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • The ability to make independent decisions in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Take initiative on issues that arise daily.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional approach with others in job-demanding, multitasking and/or project support situations

Computer Skills
  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Teams) and learn other software (example: SAP, Cority, etc.) as needed.

Physical Demands
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
  • Some bending and stretching could be required.
  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
  • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Require daily walk to & from parking lot to clinic.
  • May drive emergency vehicle within the site when responding to an incident.

Work Environment
  • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Air quality is good, and temperature is controlled.
  • Clinic is located within the protected/regulated area

This position has an hourly pay rate of $113.69. Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
