Job description

At Vector Security We Think Big, Do the Right Thing, and Make a Difference Every Day! If this is how you like to work, we’d like to invite you to join our team as a Sr. Systems Technician!

We offer great benefits, a competitive salary, and growth opportunities. We think you’ll find what you want here because what we do matters - to us, our customers, and most of all, our team members.

 Location:  Jacksonville, FL Region

Summary:

As a Senior Alarm Systems Technician, you’ll take the lead in keeping critical security systems running, not just installing them. This Jacksonville-based role is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and being the expert customers rely on when something isn’t working.

This position is primarily service-focused (90% service / 10% install), giving you the opportunity to sharpen your troubleshooting skills across a wide range of systems - from legacy panels to modern smart security and access control platforms. Our techs are trusted to own their territory, make decisions in the field, and operate with autonomy. Additionally, you’ll also play a key role in supporting team success by sharing knowledge and helping less experienced techs grow.

This opportunity is ideal for a technician who prefers service and troubleshooting over heavy install work, enjoys working across a mix of modern and legacy systems, and wants the freedom to own their day and solve problems in the field. If you're someone who takes pride in figuring things out, fixing what others can’t, and being the person customers trust to get systems back online quickly - this is a role where you’ll thrive.

What You’ll Get in This Jacksonville Role:

  • Predictable schedule & work-life balance: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; weekend work is rare
  • Overtime & on-call opportunities: Join the on-call rotation after 60 days (typically one week at a time)
  • Company-provided resources: Vehicle, gas card, cell phone, and laptop provided — no personal vehicle required
  • Autonomy in the field: Once trained, you’ll be trusted to manage your schedule and service calls independently
  • Career growth: Annual performance-based increases and ongoing training opportunities
  • Stability & long-term careers: Many Vector technicians build decades-long careers here

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform service, troubleshooting, and inspection of alarm, access control, and CCTV systems across commercial and residential environments
  • Diagnose and resolve issues on wired and wireless alarm systems, including both legacy and modern panels
  • Trace, test, and repair wiring and system components to restore functionality efficiently
  • Service and support systems including:
    • Alarm panels (Qolsys, Honeywell VISTA, DSC, DMP, 2GIG, Ademco)
    • Access control (Alarm.com, Brivo)
    • CCTV and camera systems
  • Conduct system testing and inspections to ensure reliability and compliance
  • Provide light installation support as needed (small portion of role)
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites during service visits
  • Communicate clearly with customers, explaining issues and system functionality in a professional manner
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members on more complex service needs

What You’ll Need (Required):

  • 4+ years of experience in the alarm and security integration industry
  • At least 2+ years of life safety and/or home automation experience
  • Proven experience troubleshooting alarm systems and working with wired infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Alarm panels, contacts, and system components
    • CCTV and camera systems
    • Card access systems
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
  • Strong ability to trace wiring, diagnose issues, and work independently in the field
  • Professional communication skills and customer-first mindset
  • FASA/BASA Certification

Nice to Have (Bonus Points):

  • Experience with fire systems (Potter, Fire-Lite, Silent Knight)
  • Additional industry certifications (NICET, ESA, etc.)

What You'll Get:

We offer a “Total Rewards”package including:

  • Competitive compensation with incentive eligibility
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Company paid life and AD&D insurance.
  • Company paid short- and long-term disability.
  • Voluntary benefit products
  • 401k retirement savings plan
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

About Us:
