Job description

ROLE: AZURE WITH UNITY CATALOG
TORONTO - HYBRID (4DAYS/WK) - FULLTIME

MUST HAVE:

• Technical knowledge or experience with Cloud environments (MS Azure) as well as experience with Data Management and Analytics

• Proficient with: PySpark, SQL, Tableau and Power BI

• Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog and Synapse

• Reading and comprehending data schemas, metadata, entity relationship diagrams and other technical documentation as well as well as writing documentation

• Experience with analyzing large data sets , data/text mining, optimization, automation and data visualization

• Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment

• Strong analytical skills as well as a passion for analytics are necessary

Based on our environment (Tableau and Power BI on Azure/Databricks), we are looking for resources that will be able to deploy and take ownership throughout the entire development life cycle. Ideally we are seeking either Data Engineers with BI Dev experience or vice versa BI Developer with strong data engineer skills.

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with migration projects particularly migrating from Tableau to Power BI or from Synapse to Unity Catalog.

Part of the project with include migration of Tableau dashboards to Power BI but this is just one aspect of the overall Unity Catalog adoption project. To give a clearer picture of the scope and scale involved, here are the key steps in migration process:

  • Step 1 - Verify, Prepare Environment & PIA
  • Step 2 - Migrate AZ Data
  • Step 3 - Refactor Code
  • Step 4 - Migrate Tableau Reporting to PowerBI / AI/ML models / Other assets (i.e. Alteryx workflows, etc.) - Not all use cases will have Tableau, others can be AI/ML models, Alteryx, etc.
  • Step 6 - Execution & Validation
  • Step 7 - Operationalization in the new UC AZ
