Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide safe and reliable transportation for people with disabilities. As a driver, you will follow all safety laws and practices while ensuring safe usage for the people we support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide people with disabilities safe and reliable transportation to and from home and Rise's locations on morning and afternoon routes in Rise vans and buses
  • Help create a positive experience for those riding on the vehicle including modeling how to interact appropriately with others and on setting personal boundaries.
  • Position may include using the vehicle lift and transferring adults on and off Rise vehicles including securing individuals in wheelchairs.
  • Use Rise provided technology and equipment for checking riders in and out, GPS for routing, and maintaining compliance.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and monitor basic vehicle systems
  • Complete all required maintenance forms
Requirements
  • Applicants must comply with and pass Department of Human Services background check (Rule 11)
  • Applicants must have a valid driver license
  • Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
  • Reliable, dependable, and self-directed worker
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population
  • Ability to work under pressure and react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
  • Drivers must be willing to drive in rough weather conditions
  • Must be available to work on short notice
  • Drivers must be willing to drive a 14-passenger van
