Job description

Project Manager / EstimatorCompany Overview

We are a leading residential and commercial construction firm headquartered in San Luis Obispo, California. Our team delivers highquality building projects on schedule and within budget, leveraging innovative construction methods and strong client relationships.

Compensation

Annual salary range: $120,000 $150,000 (USD) plus a competitive benefits package.

DaytoDay Duties
  • Lead project planning, coordination, and execution from concept through final closeout.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for new projects and change orders.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to define accurate scope of work.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
  • Prepare and present bid packages, negotiate contracts, and secure subcontractor agreements.
  • Monitor project progress, track expenses, and report performance metrics to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation (drawings, specifications, change orders, invoices).
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes.
MustHaves (Essential Qualifications)
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional certification such as PMP, CPM, or Certified Estimator preferred.
  • 36 years of experience in construction project management and cost estimating.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Sage Estimating) and projectmanagement tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation and clientinteraction capabilities.
NicetoHaves (Desired Experience & Skills)
  • Experience working in the California construction market.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and labor regulations.
  • Additional certifications or training in sustainable building practices (LEED, Green Building).
