Job description

About Bridgewaterย

Bridgewater Associates is a premier asset management firm, focused on delivering unique insight and partnership for the most sophisticated global institutional investors.ย

Our investment process is driven by a tireless pursuit to understand how the world's markets and economies work - using cutting-edge technology to validate and execute on timeless and universal investment principles.ย

Founded in 1975, we are a community of independent thinkers who share a commitment to excellence. By fostering a culture of openness, transparency, and inclusion, we strive to unlock the most complex questions in investment strategy, management, and corporate culture.ย

Explore more information about Bridgewater on our websiteย here.ย

Our Cultureย

Our culture is anchored in excellence, meaning constant improvement, and it is deeply tied to our mission.Because markets areย objective, competitive, and getting smarterย everyday, we need to keep rapidly improving to have any chance of beating them. Truth is our most essential tool for engaging with the markets and constantly improving because once you knowย what'sย true about your problems and opportunities, you canย determineย how to get better. Valuing truth means being transparent about your decision-making and mistakes, giving and receiving feedback with humility, and fighting for the best answers over hierarchy, ego, or self-interest. Operating this way is hard -ย it'sย only possible because we build meaning in our work and relationships. This meaning comes from the audacity of the mission, and the joy of working alongside people who make you a better version of yourself.ย The culture, like Bridgewater itself, is always evolving. In 1997 our founder Ray Dalio wrote down his lessons, starting with aPhilosophy Statementwhichย remainsย our foundation. This later evolved into a set of 300+ Principles. In 2022, when Ray transitioned the company, we re-underwrote several of those principles and evolved others, with a specific focus onย Meritocracy.ย Today the culture sits, alongside our people, as our most important edge. When we get it right,ย it'sย the engine that powers everything else.ย

The Roleย

Finding the right Investment Associateย is one of the more nuanced talent challenges in finance - the profile is specific, the pool is competitive, and the best candidates are rarely the most obvious ones.ย Identifyingย this talent takes more than a sourcing strategy. It requires genuine passion for finding great people, deep curiosity about what makes them exceptional, andย strategicย thinking to stay a step ahead in a landscape where theย topย candidates have no shortage of options.ย

This role is aboutย identifying exceptional early-career talent before anyone else does, rigorously assessing what makes them right for the Investment Associate role, andย representingย Bridgewater and the program authentically at every touchpoint.ย You'llย need to know the difference between someone who will thrive here and someone who just looks like they will. You will own the full arc: strategy, sourcing, relationships, assessment, and close.ย

Who We're Looking Forย

We care less about your background than your instincts. You might come from recruiting - building pipelines, working unconventional networks,ย staying active where others go passive.ย Or you might not - butย you'reย deeply relationship-oriented,ย read people and situations with precision, andย have the cognitive depth to assess talent at the level our Investment Associates demand.ย

Either way:ย you'reย asย systematic about finding whereย great talentย lives as you are rigorous about assessing whetherย they'reย actually theย right fit.ย

What You'll Do

  • Command a deep understandingย of the Investment Associate profile. Build rubrics that hold up under pressure and calibrate constantly with senior investors.ย
  • Design and execute search strategies. Work with hiring managers to find the best university talent across campuses, networks, and channels others overlook-and source candidates directly before they enter our pipeline.ย
  • Develop a calibrated view of whatย great looks like. Go beyond the resume. Build a genuine, well-reasoned perspective on each candidate - whatย they'reย strong at, where they have gaps, andย why - and refine that judgment continuously over time.ย Our recruitersย get to know candidates deeply, sometimes over years,ย and build a nuanced understanding of who they are, what motivates them, and how they think.ย
  • Represent Bridgewater with integrity. On campuses and in every candidate interaction, giveย an accurate, authentic picture of who we are and what it means to work here. Manage the full offer process with care - the best candidates have the most options, and your job is to make sure they have what they need to make an informed decision.ย
  • Evolve the approach. Use data, qualitative signals, and your own judgment to continuously sharpen how we search, assess, and hire.ย

What We're Looking Forย

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (any field of study).ย
  • 3+ years of experience in a demanding, fast-paced environmentย -ย recruiting, talent, or otherwise.ย
  • Genuine hunger to find great people and understand what makes them tick.ย
  • Sharp judgment and the intellectual horsepower to assess the caliber of talentย we're hiring for.ย
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, energized by hard problems, and relentlessly honest about whatย you're seeing.ย
  • Track record of building trust with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions through credibility.ย
  • Self-directed and accountable - you take ownership of your own development, outcomes, and mistakes without waiting to be told.
  • Campus or early-career recruiting experience is a plus. It is not a requirement.ย ย

Physical Requirementsย

This roleย follows a hybrid schedule - 2 days per week onsite, with flexibility to split time between our NYC and Westport offices. ย ย

Why Choose Bridgewater?ย

It takes all types to make Bridgewater great. We seek a diverse group of innovative thinkers and push them to engage in rigorous and thoughtful inquiry. We develop people through an honest examination of their abilities and performance, enabling personal growth and professional development. We strive toย provideย youย opportunities that will challenge you and unlock your potential.ย

Compensation Band:ย

The expected annual base salary for this position is $130,000-$260,000. The total compensation package includes variable compensation in the form of a discretionary target bonus.ย

One of our core priorities at Bridgewater is to enable our employees to build a great life and career, and we believe our benefits are an important extension of that philosophy. As such, currently Bridgewater offers a competitive suite of benefits. Explore more information about Bridgewater's benefits on our websiteย here.ย ย ย

Bridgewater reserves the right to change its current benefits program at any time, in a manner that is consistent with applicable federal and state regulations.ย This job description is not a contract and confers no contractual rights, privileges, or benefits on any applicant or potential applicant.ย Bridgewater has the right to change any and all terms of this job description, including, but not limited to, job responsibilities, qualifications and benefits.ย Nothing in this job description constitutes an offer or guarantee of employment. Please note that we doย notย provide immigration sponsorship for this position.ย
