TMS TREATER JOB DESCRIPTION
NEUROHEALTH CONSULTING
The TMS Treater position offers the opportunity to provide patient care utilizing the novel treatment modality of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) for treatment of major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anxious depression. The TMS Treater is/will be certified to administer NeuroStar rTMS Therapy under the supervision of the Medical Director and other treating psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners and will serve as the primary point of contact between NeuroHealth Consulting and prospective and current daily patients.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Administering rTMS Therapy daily to current patients
- Assisting with TMS mapping of new patients
- Providing educational consultation to potential new patients interested in rTMS via phone, video or in person consultation
- Performing administrative tasks such as managing potential new patients, filing Benefits Investigation Form, reporting on potential patients’ status in approval process to the Medical Director, scheduling appointments, collecting copays, and handling medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Answering phone from hours of 9 AM -5 PM if available, returning phone calls of current and prospective patients
- Providing a safe and therapeutic environment for daily treatment sessions
- Maintaining a clean and calm office setting
Job Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively, ensure patient comfort, coil contact, and TMS system setup throughout treatment
- Notify Medical Director of any potential concerns/malfunction of NeuroStar Chair or Trakstar
- Ability to explain and administer procedures to patients
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Monitoring patients for side effects or adverse medical events
- Able to assess and provide basic medical intervention in an emergency situation
- Acting courteously and professionally in dealing with patients, staff, and others
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
- Following established treatment and office procedures
- Physically able to walk, stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Detail oriented and able to maintain a high degree of accuracy
- Strong work ethic and able to work with integrity and independence
- Willing to learn about the aspects of rTMS of importance to potential and active patients
- Administer psychiatric rating scales as per treatment protocol
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor, and interface well with patients in a mental-health setting
- Able to document daily treatment sessions in our electronic medical records system
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- CPR certification
- EMR proficiency, will train
- CNA certification is highly desirable
- Basic medical insurance knowledge
- Clinical Interviewing skills
- High school diploma
- Comfortable with technology
- You do not need to be certified as a TMS technician, if you are not, we will train you
Job Type: one day per week, 10 hours per day, ongoing. We are also hiring per diem TMS Technicians for days when our usual staff are out sick.
Hourly wage negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience.
