Job description

JOB TITLE: Structural Analyst II
LOCATION: Mattaponi, VA
SALARY: $90K – 110K/year

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary:  

  • Performs stress analyses of metallic and composite structures using classical techniques and finite element models to determine structural integrity and margins of safety.

  • Analyzes internal loads, free body diagrams, stresses, and component life to support structural modifications, systems integration, weapons development, and MRB related activities.

  • Supports structural modifications, systems integration, weapons development, reverse engineering of OEM components, and other material review board (MRB) activities.

  • Reviews and creates drawings, reports, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.

  • Develops structural design criteria consistent with program objectives and provides mechanical design recommendations based on analysis results.

  • Generates and manages finite element models (FEM) to simulate and verify design concepts and predict mechanical behavior.

  • Participates in and supports test activities and presents documentation of substantiation data to demonstrate compliance with requirements and specifications.

  • Acts as the structural engineering point of contact for projects, reporting progress, prioritizing tasks, and coordinating analysis activities.

  • Applies knowledge of aerospace fabrication practices, tolerances, and design standards for machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.

  • Applies knowledge of aerospace drafting standards, tolerance stack-up analysis, and surface treatments and metallurgy.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university with three to eight (3-8) years of professional engineering test experience, or a minimum of ten (10) years of professional testing experience without a degree.

  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) modelling software such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, PATRAN, and ABAQUS.

  • Experience in structural analysis and airworthiness substantiation for aerospace or defense programs.

  • Knowledge of aerospace drafting standards and tolerance stack-up analysis.

  • Experience with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.

  • Knowledge of DOD and/or FAA program structural and environmental load requirements.

  • Ability to perform stress analyses using classical hand analysis techniques and free body diagrams.

  • Experience supporting MRB activities, including reverse engineering of OEM components and creating repair designs.

  • Knowledge of aerospace surface treatments and metallurgy.
