Job description

System Specialist

STGi is currently seeking a System Specialist to support our Head Start Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) team in Region II (NY/NJ). The position is remote with travel up to 50% as assigned.

The System Specialist (SS) has significant knowledge in Local, State, and Regional Early Childhood Systems to support our Head Start Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) team in Region II. The SS participates in regional teams to identify cross-system coordination between the Office of Child Care (OCC), the Office of Head Start (OHS), Head Start Associations, and State Preschool/Public Education Systems within the Region.

The System Specialist provides subject matter expertise, consultation, and resources to Regional/Area Office and TTA staff to improve coordination opportunities across state and federal early childhood care and education systems that impact HS service delivery.

The System Specialist coordinates with partners such as Head Start Associations, Head Start State Collaboration Offices, Departments of Education to improve state and local coordination efforts, promote collaboration with local education agencies, and address cross-cutting challenges affecting Head Start preschool and Early Head Start program children and families.

The System Specialist aggregates, analyzes, and presents regional data related to Head Start collaboration with state and federal early childhood development and education systems, local education agencies, and other local, state, and regional partners to identify opportunities to collaborate and coordinate across systems and provide strategies to resolve issues and barriers.

The System Specialist participates in regional-level meetings with Head Start State Collaboration Office (HSSCO) Directors, state Child Care administrators and other state-level early childhood systems partners, as directed by the Regional or Area Office.

The System Specialist develops and provides presentations and training on topics related to systems as directed by the Regional or Area Office.

The System Specialist provides direct TTA to Head Start/Early Head Start recipients at the direction of the Regional or Area Office.

The System Specialist participates in national, regional/area and state work groups and meetings as directed by the OHS COR.

The System Specialist supports emerging OHS initiatives and priorities.

Ability to develop, train, and provide presentations to individuals, small and large groups.

Familiarity with the Improving School Readiness for Head Start Act of 2007, Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, OHS Monitoring Protocols and processes, and knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations as they apply to all facets of cross-system coordination.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Sustained concentration and attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Flexibility to travel across the region up to 50% as directed.

Valid Driver License and access to transportation.

A minimum of five years of experience with at least three years with the provision of technical assistance and consultation to Head Start and/or state and federal early childhood development, education, or human service systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in facilitating successful collaborations within state and federal early childhood development, education or human service systems.

Experience providing TA that includes working with management teams and program staff.

Experience analyzing data to assist in making data driven decisions.

Demonstrated experience communicating, both orally and in writing, to various audiences.

Experience with using multiple technological platforms to perform duties such as data integration, data aggregation, creating reports, dashboards and data visualizations to interpret results (e.g., Smartsheet).

Demonstrated experience facilitating group discussions and presenting to a range of audiences using a variety of formats to include virtual.

Intermediate to advanced level experience with recent versions of Microsoft Suite, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer; ability to use current webinar technology and audio conferencing.

A minimum of a BA or a BS from an accredited university or college in management, communication, education leadership or administration, early childhood education, child development or related degree. Masters' degree preferred.

Physically capable of performing duties & responsibilities listed above.

Frequent use of office technology such as computers, telephones, etc.

Travel up to 50% as assigned.

Extended periods of standing during training events.

Cyclical, deadline and workflow driven.

Pay rate: Starting at $86,000/Year
