Job description

Are you an insurance professional who enjoys working behind the scenes with sales and account teams, learning how clients operate, and digging into coverage details to help shape solutions that fit their needs?
The Crane Agency, a leading insurance brokerage, is looking for a Coverage Analyst to join our Coverage & Risk Advisory Group in Chesterfield. If you have a solid foundation in commercial property & casualty insurance, and genuinely enjoy working through coverage questions, we'd love to talk.
Whether you've been a broker, account executive, account manager, or underwriter, this role allows you to apply your field knowledge in a detail-oriented capacity, delivering the analysis and insight that teams need to win and retain business.
Position Snapshot
As a member of our Coverage & Risk Advisory Group, you'll serve as a trusted internal resource for brokers and account management staff, providing knowledgeable and practical guidance on property and casualty coverage matters. You will answer day-to-day coverage questions and conduct in-depth coverage reviews, helping ensure insurance programs align with client risk profiles and supporting strong, technically sound client solutions.
What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of commercial lines insurance experience with a deep understanding of property and casualty principles.
  • Demonstrated experience providing integrated, multi-line insurance solutions for clients
  • Valid resident Property & Casualty insurance license
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or equivalent designation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with agency management systems; Applied Epic experience is a plus

Personal Characteristics
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and effective communicator, written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Able to translate technical coverage concepts into plain language for brokers and colleagues
  • Service-oriented, collaborative, and professional
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional growth

What You'll Be Doing
  • Respond to day-to-day coverage questions from brokers and account management staff
  • Conduct in-depth coverage reviews of insurance programs and prepare and present findings to brokers and account teams
  • Evaluate client risk profiles, including operational risks and contractual and statutory insurance requirements, to assess alignment with current or proposed insurance programs.
  • Analyze policy details, including declarations, insuring agreements, terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions, to assess alignment with client needs and identify coverage gaps
  • Perform comparative analyses of insurance programs, policy forms, and endorsement options to identify key similarities and differences
  • Support the development and delivery of technical resources and training (e.g., briefings, guides, newsletters, FAQs) to enhance coverage knowledge across the agency
  • Support the development and refinement of tools and resources (e.g., checklists, worksheets, templates) to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality of team outputs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting in support of departmental metrics and operational tracking

Why This Role
  • Work on complex, varied coverage challenges across a wide range of clients and industries.
  • No book of business, no account administration, just focused, meaningful analysis work.
  • Grow your technical expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment
  • Clear path to senior-level advisory roles as the group expands

If you've spent years in the field and are drawn to the technical side of coverage, this role was designed for you. We're building a team of experienced insurance professionals who enjoy working through the details, and we'd love to hear from you.
