Job description

The Senior Compensation Analyst analyzes, designs, and administers employee compensation programs, including base pay, incentives, bonuses, and differentials that align with SC objectives for recruitment, retention, and employee engagement. This role designs and communicates pay structures, grades, compensation budgets, and guidelines. In addition, responsibilities include advising SC leaders and HR Business Partners on making effective pay decisions that support employee engagement and comply with compensation policies and budgetary guidelines, evaluating jobs and developing and maintaining job descriptions and architecture, and participating in salary surveys and conducting research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity, and compensation trends.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Deliver operational processes that ensure seamless and consistent HR/Compensation workflows, practices and procedures, while providing excellent candidate/employee experience and compliance.
  • Evaluate HR/Compensation programs and recommend changes to better position SC in the marketplace.
  • Ensure SC's overall HR/Compensation strategy, technology infrastructure, and processes are competitive and conducive to attracting and retaining the best talent.
  • Research industry trends and advise HR leadership on program change recommendations.
  • Collect and compile HR/Compensation metrics and data from a variety of sources, including the human resource information system (HRIS).  
  • Analyze data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, compensation and benefits strategies, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
  • Identify and recommend reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, make recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance.
  • Provide general assistance and back up support to the HR Manager.
  • Assist in the development of organizational communication materials.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent professional-level HR experience required.
  • Minimum of two or more years of experience in compensation required.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) through WorldatWork preferred.
  • Human Resources related certification (PHR / SHRM-CP) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, with advanced knowledge of Excel required.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State labor laws is required.
  • Must be a self-starter, extremely organized, with a high attention to detail, have a mindset of continuous improvement, and be able to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Must possess excellent communication and analytical skills, and have the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data, financial information and organizational information.
