Job Title: Side by Side Kids โ Youth Development Leader (Part Time)
Purpose of the Position: The Youth Development Leader is responsible for leading and facilitating a safe as well as caring environment where students can grow academically, build positive relationships, and develop an understanding of Godโs love for them.
Job Summary:
โข Lead and manage an afterschool classroom of 10 to 15 students
โข Use classroom management skills to create a fun and productive environment for learning
โข Provide supervision for students in the Side by Side Kids program to ensure safety and program effectiveness
โข Follow all safety protocols and procedures due to COVID-19 that have been put in place to minimize risk
โข Thoroughly read the provided curriculum and faith-based lessons and prepare for each weekโs lesson
โข Account for all program supplies and ensure that all classrooms are left the same condition as found
โข Serve as a role model for students by upholding the highest standards in speech, professional appearance, and interactions with the Youth Development Leader as well as with AISD staff
โขFollow and support the discipline system utilized by the SBSK Afterschool Program
โข Follow and support SBSK Emergency Procedures established by the SBSK Afterschool Program
โข Report any suspected abuse or neglect of SBSK program students to a supervisor and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services โข Complete daily reports and communicate daily operations with Program Coordinator
โข Secure substitute teachers in the event of an absence โข Attend required staff meetings, training, and professional development
โข Attend required staff meetings, training, and professional development
โข All other duties assigned
Time Involvement Required: This is a part-time position requiring up to 10 to 25 hours of work a week depending on availability and assigned campus. SBSK has opportunities for individuals to work Monday - Friday, from 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Other staff may work MWF and/or Tuesday/Thursday schedules. Length of employment is at minimum, 1 school semester.
Work Site: Assigned elementary school within the Austin Independent School District or off-site afterschool campus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
โข Experience working with children and/or youth in a school setting, afterschool program or mentoring program
โข Ability to move around a classroom with ease and be accessible to students
โข Ability to bend, reach, or stretch for supplies and other various objects, as well as lift or carry at least 40 pounds
โข Love for working with children and leading them in Christ-like behavior โข Exceptional communication and people skills
โข Execute sound judgement when problem solving or making decisions
โข High level of professionalism โข Strong organizational skills
โข Ability to give constructive feedback as well as receive
โข Teachable and willingness to adapt and learn
โข Bilingual (English Spanish) speaking candidates highly encouraged to apply (with added compensation)
