Overview

The Shubert Organization is America’s oldest professional theatre company and the largest theatre owner on Broadway. Since the dawn of the 20th century, Shubert has operated hundreds of theatres and produced hundreds of plays and musicals both in New York City and throughout the United States. Shubert currently owns and operates 17 Broadway theatres, six off-Broadway venues, and the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia.


As a Project Manager, you will be part of a small, high-impact team reporting to the Vice President, Facilities and overseeing construction, renovation, and major repair projects involving all building elements/systems. You will have full responsibility as the Owner’s Representative, managing from project planning through final documentation, elevating critical matters when appropriate.


What You’ll Do

Project Planning

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop budgets, and financial tracking models.
  • Create and manage project schedules.
  • Lead procurement efforts, including vendor selection and contract strategy.

Project Execution

  • Manage bidding, bid leveling, and contract award.
  • Direct and supervise consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee field work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to minimize operational disruption.

Project Administration

  • Prepare and manage purchase agreements, work orders, and purchase orders.
  • Manage contract documentation and code‑related requirements.
  • Oversee insurance, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Produce clear and timely project status reports.
  • Review and approve invoices; maintain planned‑vs‑actual reporting.
  • Lead project close‑out, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and final documentation.


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical or engineering emphasis preferred. We believe education is important, but if you have great project management experience, technical strength, and broad experience, that works for us.
  • Professional experience in construction management, with technical theatre operations experience a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of construction trades.
  • Familiarity with design and construction, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and schematics.
  • Strong survey, layout, and measurement skills.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and controls and diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities across building systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to achieve project goals.


What You’ll Receive

Compensation

  • $130,000-$155,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
