Remuneration: $117,745 - $147,664 per annum

Hours Per Week: 16 hours per week

Advanced Trainee - Public Health Medicine

Western NSW Local Health District

The position offers twelve months accredited regional Public Health Medicine Advance Trainee experience. The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective public health services to the population of the Western NSW Local Health District under supervision, while developing expertise in public health practice. The Advanced Trainee will have a supervisor who is a Specialist in Public Health Medicine.

The Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) is one of the largest Local Health Districts in New South Wales covering an area similar to the size of Britain and including 23 Local Government Areas. We deliver innovative health services to approximately 260,000 people residing in rural and remote parts of the State. The Local Health District is diverse in the health care it delivers boasting the largest rural mental health service in Australia, three major rural referral hospitals at Orange, Dubbo and Bathurst, 63 community health centres, 38 inpatient facilities including Multi Purpose Services and District Health Services at Mudgee, Cowra and Lachlan Health Service for Parkes and Forbes. The Western NSW Local Health District is a leader in providing accessible health through robust clinician, community and partner engagement.

Essential Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of high-level computer literacy skills, including advanced word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other facilities of WNSWLHD and other LHDs.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and cleared National Police check.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
