Job description

Sentara Health, a nationally recognized integrated healthcare system is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced gastroenterologist to serve as a Chief of Gastroenterology. This is a transformational leadership opportunity for a mid-career physician who has experience running a fellowship and operational experience.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead with Purpose: Provide strategic direction for the growth and innovation of GI services across the Sentara network.

  • Build the Future: Spearhead the development of a new Gastroenterology Fellowship Program, playing a critical role in the training and mentoring of future GI specialists.

  • Mentor & Inspire: Serve as a mentor to early-career physicians, nurturing leadership potential and promoting a culture of academic excellence.

  • Clinical Excellence: Utilize your expertise to elevate patient care and expand service offerings.

  • Grow Outpatient Care: Lead the expansion and optimization of the outpatient GI division, improving access, efficiency, and patient experience across ambulatory care settings.

  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work alongside system leadership, academic partners, and multidisciplinary teams to align GI services with Sentara s mission of improving health every day.

  • Hepatology preferred but not required. Preferably inpatient and outpatient capacity.
