Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team at Scripps Health Recovery. This full-time telehealth position focuses on providing high-quality mental health therapy to clients using evidence-based practices, including recovery-oriented services and family systems approaches. The ideal candidate will be skilled in assessing and treating a variety of mental health issues while also contributing to the overall mental wellness of patients through effective treatment planning and counseling.

Work Environment

This position is primarily conducted in a remote telehealth setting, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home while making a significant impact in the lives of your clients. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and mental health diagnoses, establishing tailored treatment plans that reflect the individual needs of each patient.
  • Implement short-term counseling techniques using appropriate modalities to address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Provide short-term case management services to support patients actively participating in their treatment, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues during crisis interventions, utilizing de-escalation techniques, assessment tools, and, when necessary, coordinating with public mental health crisis response teams to ensure safe outcomes.
  • Follow up with patients post-crisis to evaluate ongoing needs, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and enhance continuity of care with outside agencies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will serve come from various backgrounds, each facing unique challenges. Your focus will be on addressing mental health conditions among individuals, couples, and families, particularly those experiencing severe mental health symptoms, complex stressors, or crises. You will work with clients who may need support in navigating debilitating issues such as trauma, substance misuse, and domestic violence.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral science field.
  • Active and unrestricted licenses as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience in mental health counseling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing clinical mental health services to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Familiarity with effective treatment approaches for mental health disorders, ensuring that interventions align with best practices.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within a telehealth framework, adept at utilizing virtual platforms for therapy and consultation.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented practices and frameworks, particularly those influencing family systems and community engagement.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
Compensation and Benefits
