Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Inside Sales Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth and supporting district and school partners in achieving literacy and learning goals through Scholastic Education solutions. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with educators and administrators, identifying customer needs, and providing consultative support to align Scholastic products and services with district priorities.

The Inside Sales Specialist works closely with field sales, customer support, and internal teams to manage the full sales cycle-from lead generation and prospecting to closing sales and ensuring a positive customer experience. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, data-driven decision-making, and a passion for supporting literacy and equitable learning outcomes for all students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage an assigned territory of school and district accounts to achieve or exceed sales goals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, principals, and district leaders to understand their literacy and learning priorities.

  • Conduct needs assessments and present Scholastic Education programs and resources that best address customer goals.

  • Collaborate with field sales partners to align territory strategies and ensure seamless account coverage.

  • Utilize Salesforce (or other CRM tools) to track leads, opportunities, and account activity accurately.

  • Participate in outbound calling campaigns, webinars, and virtual meetings to engage customers and generate new opportunities.

  • Stay informed on current education trends, funding opportunities, and state or district initiatives to position Scholastic effectively.

  • Provide timely and professional follow-up to customer inquiries and ensure smooth handoff for fulfillment and implementation.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture that reflects Scholastic's mission and values.

  • The ISR will travel approximately 20% of the time to provide customer support and attend educational conferences and corporate-sponsored training, and sales meetings

Experience and Knowledge:

  • A background in K-12 sales or education is preferred, but is not mandatory.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer and digital presentation skills, including Excel, Google Suite, and Outlook.

  • Experience in Education and/or Inside Sales preferred, but not mandatory

  • Proven track record of generating sales of 2 mm+ + annually preferred, but not mandatory
