Job description

Description
The Material Handler position is responsible for staging materials for production and ensuring proper tracking and stewardship of materials in the warehouse inventory control system.
Work Schedule:
  • 1st Shift Production Schedule - 5:45 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner; must be medically cleared and trained to properly wear a dust mask respirator.
  • Obtain and maintain in-house forklift operator certification; perform all forklift operation duties with utmost care and attention to detail.
  • Follow all plant safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment; must follow housekeeping rules.
  • Ensure customer materials are correctly identified, and warehouse locations are accurate.
  • Read and understand material package labels and production process sheets.
  • Follow the "First In, First Out" (FIFO) method of inventory usage.
  • Properly use an RF scanner to ensure accurate inventory control.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by Production Lead.
  • Assist supervisors and managers with corrective actions and preventive measures as necessary.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow standardized work processes while adhering to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Must be able to operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shift.
  • Able to pass a forklift driving test and safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
  • Must possess a positive attitude.
  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime as needed.
  • Able and willing to work in temperature extremes, both hot and cold.
  • Must be medically cleared and trained to wear a respirator dust mask.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Education and Experience
  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred forklift driving experience
  • Preferred manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Regularly
    • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, including overhead working.
    • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment.
    • Use safety equipment as required by the task, such as personal protective equipment.
    • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
    • Climb ladders and stairs.
    • Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions with dust, fumes, airborne particles.
    • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection.
  • Occasionally
    • Sit
    • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 2,500 lbs.
  • Other
    • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Standard warehouse and production environment. The noise level is moderate due to equipment operation.
