Job description

Location
This position is 100% in-office and reports to our facility on-site in Syracuse, NY. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate at their own expense.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly technical Project Manager to lead critical and complex projects. This role requires a strong foundation in software development practices and the ability to translate strategic business goals into structured technical execution. You will work closely with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to drive projects from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment, accountability, and measurable outcomes. Success in this role requires detailed technical knowledge and the ability to navigate fast-moving environments while maintaining clarity, focus, and execution discipline.

Salary Range
$75,000 – $115,000 per year, based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and business teams to define clear project scope, technical requirements, timelines, and measurable deliverables.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, risks, and outcomes.
  • Apply structured software delivery practices and frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, hybrid approaches) based on project needs.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate technical and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in technical planning, design discussions, and architecture reviews to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Drive accountability by tracking progress, removing blockers, and ensuring consistent execution across teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing software development or IT projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to understand system architecture, technical workflows, and commercial software applications.
  • Familiarity with modern development ecosystems, including programming languages or JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue).
  • Working knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of APIs, system integrations, DevOps practices, or modern software delivery pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience applying software delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Kanban, or hybrid models).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable language.

Bonus For

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certifications.
  • Experience working in commercial software and mission-critical solutions.
