Job description

Our client, a leading biotechnology and life sciences company, is seeking a Scientist/Sr. Specialist - Downstream Process Development to join their team. As a Scientist/Sr. Specialist - Downstream Process Development, you will be part of the Process Development Department supporting Downstream Process Development and Technology Transfer Teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a high level of organization, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Downstream Process Development Scientist

Location: Carlsbad, CA (100% Onsite)

Pay Range: $50.00 - $70.00/hour

What's the Job?
  • Execute downstream process development experiments supporting client development and technology transfer projects.
  • Perform purification activities including chromatography, tangential flow filtration (TFF), and normal flow filtration (NFF).
  • Analyze experimental data, troubleshoot process issues, and document findings.
  • Prepare technical documentation including SOPs, study protocols, reports, process descriptions, BOMs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process scale-up and cGMP-compliant development activities.
What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of industry experience in downstream process development or bioprocessing.
  • Hands-on experience with chromatography, purification processes, and bench/pilot-scale equipment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP environments, technology transfer, and process scale-up.
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, troubleshooting, and Microsoft Office skills.
