Job description

Responsibilities
  • Obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure
  • Implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation
  • Creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines
  • Assisting Physicians, Extenders, and Nurses with patient treatment and care including, but not limited to, locating patients, obtaining accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures, triaging patients, assessing patients’ problems, and preparing patients for physicals and medical treatment by Physicians, Extenders, and Nurses
  • Handling Physician, Extender, and Nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner
  • Filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork
  • Ensuring the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment
  • Understanding and using the following Patient First reporting tools: Daily Log, X-ray Listing, X-ray Status Screen, and Impression Log
  • Understanding and using the medical records system
  • Cleaning work area, performing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and performing other maintenance assignments as directed
  • Restocking x-ray and Treatment Area supplies as needed
  • Attending training classes and staff meetings as scheduled
  • Working with fellow employees and externs during on-the-job training
  • Directly supervising (physically present in the room and available to furnish assistance and direction during the performance of all patient services) externs and Radiologic Technologist Assistants performing quality x-ray exams using correct positioning and radiation exposure according to Patient First guidelines
  • Being available to assist as needed (breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time to provide necessary patient care or to maintain center operations;
  • Checking email, reviewing assigned memos and policies, and completing assigned checklists during each shift
Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum typing experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Registered member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or graduate of an approved Limited Radiologic Technologist program required
  • Licensed, if required in the state
  • Must be able to hear pages, bells, and phone system
  • Adequate visual, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Must provide the highest quality medical care and professionalism
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4-6 hours at a time)
  • Must be able to lift moderate to heavy items (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Limited Radiologic Technologist must be licensed to practice in the following anatomical areas: chest/thorax, extremities, skull/sinuses, spine and abdomen/pelvis

Salary Range: $33.00 - $38.00, depending on experience.
