Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider and private employer in the tri-state area, is seeking an exceptional physician executive:  Regional VP, Cardiology for the Northwell Cardiovascular Institute and Chief of Cardiology for Danbury Hospital and New Milford. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary with a deep commitment to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and strategic program development.

We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished physician leader with a proven track record of progressive leadership within an academic and/or complex healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified cardiologist (any sub-specialty) with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience. The individual should possess exceptional interpersonal and strategic planning skills and have the ability to inspire and lead diverse teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and integrate local initiatives with broader regional strategic initiatives. The candidate should be able to thrive on collaboration and be dedicated to advancing clinical excellence, academic distinction, and compassionate patient care while elevating cardiovascular services.

The Opportunity:

Regional VP, Cardiology, Northwell Cardiovascular Institute:

Play a crucial role in shaping the future of cardiovascular care across the region, including the Hudson Valley and Western Connecticut, with strong collaboration with the Northwell Cardiovascular Institute.

  1. Driving standardization of best practices, clinical protocols, and quality metrics.
  2. Identifying and implementing innovative care delivery models and technologies.
  3. Facilitating collaboration and integration across the region and system.
  4. Participating in system-wide strategic planning for the Cardiovascular Institute, contributing to its overall mission and growth.
  5. Serving as a key liaison between site-based cardiology and the broader Northwell Cardiovascular Institute.

Chief of Cardiology (Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital):

Provide comprehensive clinical, operational, and strategic oversight for the Division of Cardiology at both Danbury and New Milford Hospitals.

  1. Oversee clinical cardiology services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, quality, and safety.
  2. Recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of a high-performing team of cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and other team members.
  3. Strategic planning for program growth, technology adoption, and service expansion.
  4. Fostering a collaborative and collegial environment within the department and across other medical specialties.
  5. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  6. Supporting the academic mission, including training, research, and innovation.

Clinical Role:

Approximately 50% effort will be towards clinical cardiology, commensurate with the individual’s training and expertise.

Northwell Health’s Cardiovascular Institute brings together providers from across the system to work collaboratively to provide top care, to teach and train, to perform research, to engage the community, and to reach new heights in providing the highest quality care for all. The Institute’s Centers of Excellence (Arrhythmia, Atherosclerosis, Heart/Lung Failure, Prevention/Wellness, Pediatric/Adult Congenital, Valvular, Vascular, Women’s Heart Health) are designed to focus on the cardiovascular patient and care team to provide comprehensive, expert care across the vast network. Our clinical programs are comprehensive, and cover all possible areas within cardiovascular medicine, intervention, and surgery. Our ~400 cardiologists take care of patients across 100 office locations and 23 hospitals and we take a team-based approach to provide innovative heart care for what others call “untreatable.” Given Northwell’s vast geography, we have designated regional leads who are empowered to steward the region and work with other regional and system representatives to ensure consistent and streamlined strategies and oversight.

Northwell Health is the region’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 28 hospitals and 1,050 outpatient facilities. We care for over thirteen million people annually in the New York metro area and Connecticut. Our 104,000 employees – 22,000+ nurses and 13,000+ credentialed physicians, including members of Northwell Health Physician Partners – are working to change health care for the better. We’re making breakthroughs at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, training the next generation of medical professionals at the visionary Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies and in our vast graduate medical education program, and engaging our communities with innovative ways to take care of large populations.

Northwell Health offers a competitive salary and benefits package. In addition, an academic appointment with the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is commensurate with credentials and experience. Physicians will be employed as members of Northwell Physician Partners, the fifth largest medical group in the country.
