Trauma Unit (6400 & 6500)
Our organization is seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time position in the Trauma Department, specifically for night shifts. This role involves working three 12-hour shifts each week.

About Our Trauma Center

As Missouri's premier Level I Trauma Center, we handle over 14,500 trauma cases each year. Our department is nationally acclaimed for its outstanding trauma care, where a multidisciplinary team provides compassionate and high-quality treatment for patients facing complex and critical injuries.

Details on Units 6400 & 6500

Units 6400 and 6500 encompass a combined nursing division for Trauma, Geriatric Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery, featuring a total of 63 beds. Nurses in these units gain specialized knowledge while caring for a varied patient demographic with traumatic injuries and acute surgical conditions.

Patient Demographics Include:
  • Injuries from motor vehicle accidents
  • Gunshot and stab wounds
  • Traumatic amputations
  • Injuries from falls
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Traumatic brain injuries

In addition to trauma cases, our nurses also attend to acute care surgery patients admitted via the Emergency Department.

Surgical Services Department

This department provides pre-operative and post-operative inpatient care for patients undergoing specialized surgical procedures in various fields, including abdominal organ transplants, vascular surgery, trauma, and more. The focus is on pre-operative needs, post-operative care, and treatment following phase I recovery until discharge from the inpatient nursing division. Our surgical observation unit and ICU cater to patients requiring intensive care after surgery or trauma.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with nursing care standards.
  • Encourage patient and family-centered care in a healing environment, educating them on managing their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
  • Engage in activities that enhance patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while participating in professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Utilize critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to care standards, considering patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care.

This position has been classified as safety-sensitive, requiring the ability to maintain constant alertness and operate safely.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Supervisor Experience: Not required
  • Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: Relevant experience preferred
