Position Overview Under limited supervision, this position provides routine, on-site oversight of field operations involving accountable nuclear materials. The role focuses on assisting operations with material movements, verifying transfer documentation, conducting basic compliance surveillance, and ensuring daily handling activities align with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
The specific work assignment includes, but is not limited to: Functional: Assists in providing NMCA oversight for routine nuclear material movements, transfers, receipts, and shipments. Verifies basic transfer documentation and assists operations with accurate data entry into accountability systems. Conducts routine compliance assessments, performance tests, and field surveillance of material handling.
Identifies and reports potential discrepancies, vulnerabilities, or non-compliance issues to NMCA management. Assists in evaluating the basic form and concentration of nuclear materials to support category determinations. Applies a basic understanding of site procedures and regulatory requirements to daily field activities.
Performs periodic checks of material balance areas to verify physical barriers and access controls. Supports investigations of minor material discrepancies or administrative anomalies. Reviews localized operational records and transfer logs for completeness and accuracy.
Supports the delivery of basic NMCA training and awareness sessions for operations personnel. Participates in routine field-based self-assessments to support continuous improvement efforts.
