Description

MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) isseekinga Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our inpatient psychiatric consult team as a Psychiatric HospitalConsultant Professional at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP).

We are a cohesive team representing many disciplines, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, Behavioral Health Clinicians, Pharmacists, Resident Physicians, APP learners and Medical Students. We value teamwork and strive to nurture a supportive environment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides psychiatric consultation to inpatients at Maine Medical Center Portland. The candidate should have comfort working with medically complex patients and those with substance use disorders. The PMHNP or PPA will provide face to face psychiatric evaluations and medication recommendations to patients on medical/surgical units. Due to the hospital-based setting, an ability to multitask and manage acute clinical scenarios is essential.

Schedule: Full time - 40 hours per week, including weekend shifts (five 8-hour shifts).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate program.
  • Two years of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate experience preferred but not required.
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current DEA registration
  • Meets credentialing criteria defined in Medical Staff By-Laws and associated entity.
  • Advanced skill and knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology and experience in treating patients with comorbidities preferred.
