Job description

Press Operator (Experienced AKIYAMA Offset Press Bestech 628 or 640)

Portland, OR 97230

Job Summary:
Seeking a full-time Offset Press Operator at our NE Portland Facility. This person will be responsible for operating offset printing presses, improving cost efficiencies, and reducing the probability of error to achieve client satisfaction and creating a safe and hazard free work environment. The Press Operator will excel at troubleshooting, work well under pressure within tight deadlines, and fully understand the importance of quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Examine work order to determine quantity to print, stock specifications, colors and special printing instructions...and ask questions when needed.
  • Examine plates, ink and paper for accuracy and/or defects and take appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Make ready and operate Akiyama 6-color 28" press. Often 2-4 make-readies per day.
  • Consistently monitor print quality and make any needed adjustments throughout each run.
  • Perform proper and required maintenance and cleaning of their press and work area.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of printing presses. Preferably sheet-fed 4-6 unit presses. Specific experience with Akiyama Bestech presses a big plus. 
  • Successful candidates will need to have a craftsman approach. 
  • Successful candidates will need to have the desire, ability and patience to troubleshoot challenges and ensure consistent quality throughout each press run. Most press runs are small to medium size with multiple make-readies each day.
