Senior Counsel, Construction (Onsite, Permanent, In-House)We are delighted to partner with a thriving private company based in San Antonio to bring on a key player in their legal department. The legal department is highly collaborative and has had low turnover, so culture fit is very important for the right candidate.Position SummaryThis is a senior level attorney role, requiring one who can work independently and with a highly cohesive and collaborative team handling major business for construction, project support and other generalist and business matters of the company. This attorney will work frequently with senior leadership from the main office in San Antonio, Texas. Occasional travel to job sites will be needed.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as primary legal counsel on construction and project-related matters, including contract review, risk assessment, and dispute avoidance/resolutionDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including construction agreements, subcontracts, vendor and supplier agreements, and other commercial contractsAdvise business leadership and operational teams on legal risks associated with construction projects, bids, change orders, claims, liens, bonds, and insuranceSupport employment-related legal matters, including policy review and compliance guidanceAssist with real estate matters relevant to construction, materials, and hospitality operations (e.g., leases, easements, property acquisitions)Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, HR, and executive teamsManage outside counselStay current on relevant construction law, regulatory changes, and industry best practicesQualifications7+ years of construction and transactional practice with top law firm or similar companyStrong contract drafting and negotiation skillsWorking knowledge of corporate, employment, and real estate law sufficient to handle general business mattersActive Bar license, Texas preferred, but will relocate a top candidatePosition Details of the Senior Counsel, Construction, Counsel Role:Type of role: In-House CounselSchedule: Full-timeLocation: Onsite in San Antonio, TXCompensation:Pay: The salary range for this role is $220,000 - $250,000 plus bonus.
