About the Role
The Lane Construction Corporation is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex, high-impact heavy civil infrastructure projects operations from start-up through closeout. This role provides executive-level leadership with responsibility for project safety, financial performance, project controls, risk management, schedule execution, client relationships, and team development.
The Project Director serves as a senior leader representing Lane with owners, joint venture partners, subcontractors, and internal executive leadership. This is a highly visible role for a proven Operations construction leader who can drive performance, manage complex stakeholder environments, and deliver successful outcomes on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead full lifecycle delivery of assigned project(s), including planning, staffing, procurement, execution, project controls, and closeout
- Participate in major project decisions and project-level leadership meetings
- Ensure development and effective use of CPM schedules throughout the project lifecycle
- Oversee procurement and buy-out processes to align with project budget, schedule, and execution goals
- Manage across engineering, construction, scheduling, quality, safety, and procurement functions
Financial, Commercial & Risk Leadership
- Partner with Accounting and Finance to manage budgeting, forecasting, and overall project financial performance
- Monitor and communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership
- Lead the pursuit and resolution of claims, change orders, REAs, and contractual issues
- Engage with project and corporate contract management teams to mitigate risk and resolve contractual matters
- Sponsor and drive revenue enhancement strategies aligned with project objectives
Client, JV & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a senior Lane representative with owners, joint venture partners, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
- Participate in management committee meetings for assigned joint ventures
- Build and maintain strong relationships to support project success, issue resolution, and long-term partnerships
- Ensure alignment between project delivery and stakeholder expectations
Safety, Quality & Culture
- Lead and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible leadership and accountability
- Ensure compliance with project safety programs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Promote Lane values and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work environment
People Leadership
- Build, coach, and develop high-performing project teams
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels aligned with project demands
- Support development and succession planning for key project roles
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 15 years of progressive operational construction experience, with a strong focus in heavy civil infrastructure. This must include experience with pressurized face TBM technology and controlled blasting techniques.
- 7 cumulative years in a Project Management position for tunnel construction projects.
- 3 consecutive years in a Project Management position for tunnel construction projects.
- Proven experience leading large, complex construction projects and cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of project financial management, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract management
- Demonstrated ability to assess risks, solve complex problems, and drive project performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management capabilities
Preferred
- Experience in design-build, P3, or joint venture (JV) project environments
- Experience with change management REAs, change orders, and contractual negotiations
- Experience working with complex stakeholder environments, including owners, agencies, and regulatory bodies
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams and functions in large-scale project delivery
- Strong Project Controls understanding
