Job description
As Director of Plant Maintenance, you will have overall coordination responsibility for the plant maintenance program throughout the Indiana North division of imi. This position will report to the President of the division while regularly collaborating with the VP of Plant & Fleet Maintenance and the regional VP/GM's of the division.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and assist in the execution of comprehensive maintenance strategies for plant facilities.
- Provide strong facilitation to the maintenance teams, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Develop major capex projects within the divisions and the management of schedule and spending.
- Develop and define process consistency throughout the plant maintenance groups and plants.
- Coordinate with VP of Plant and Fleet Maintenance to establish consistent processes and efficient plant maintenance methods.
Plant Maintenance
- Coordinate the preventive and corrective maintenance of concrete production facilities to ensure best practices are utilized across the division.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement best practices to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with civil and structural engineers for new plant construction.
- Develop relationships with VP's, Sales, Operation Managers, and Area Production Managers to ensure customer service expectations are being met
- Coordinate with state and local municipalities for utilities and permits.
- Develop and design new plant construction project plans.
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Support the development of the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Vendor Management
- Direct control of relationships with plant manufacturers and other plant parts vendors.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure service levels meet company standards as needed by the division.
Training and Development
- Provide training programs for maintenance staff to enhance skills and promote a culture of continuous learning.
- Implement cross-training initiatives amongst the business maintenance and fabrication teams to build knowledge and best practice sharing.
- Implement weekly, monthly and yearly safety meetings.
- Provide training required by OSHA and imi for compliance and safety of employees.
- Proven experience in maintenance leadership roles within the manufacturing or construction industry.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of concrete production processes and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or similar suite of office software.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software.
