Job Title: Landscape Superintendent
Location: Rancho Cordova, CA
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Landscape Superintendent to lead and manage landscape installation projects for new construction sites. This role involves comprehensive project oversight, staff development, and ensuring adherence to company policies, project timelines, and budgetary requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth industry experience, and the ability to foster a positive, safety-focused work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage field staffing for all ongoing projects, including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.

  • Review and interpret project plans and ensure thorough understanding before execution.

  • Attend all pre-job walkthroughs and conduct multiple weekly site visits.

  • Ensure installation work meets project specifications and quality standards.

  • Accurately document change orders and secure approval for any additional work.

  • Monitor weekly job cost reports and proactively address discrepancies in labor, purchasing, or accounting.

  • Deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Maintain strong, ongoing communication with clients and internal departments.

  • Ensure efficient use and maintenance of field equipment and tools.

  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Foremen to address updates and training needs.

  • Train and evaluate Foremen, ensuring team members are aligned with company policies, values, and safety protocols.

  • Ensure all new hires receive comprehensive onboarding and job-specific training.

  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations in daily operations.

  • Promptly report workplace injuries to HR and/or the Safety Officer.

  • Enforce uniform and PPE compliance among field staff.

Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and plans.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively.

  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat.

  • Willingness to work in areas with active automotive traffic.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial landscape construction.

  • Proven leadership and team management experience.

  • Extensive experience in landscape installation for new construction (not maintenance).

  • Familiarity with Prevailing Wage (PW) projects is required.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Spanish language skills preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as project needs demand.
