The Software Engineer provides pipeline support across lookdev, lighting, CFX, and FX, helping artists work efficiently within the studio's Houdini-based pipeline. This role is primarily focused on troubleshooting issues, resolving production blockers, and helping maintain workflows that are intuitive and efficient on scenes of extreme scale and complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day support to artists using the Houdini pipeline, responding to Jira tickets, troubleshooting issues and resolving blockers quickly
Diagnose and fix bugs in existing Houdini pipeline tools, writing clean, well-tested Python code
Communicate with artists to identify areas of inefficiency and surface recurring pain points to pipeline leads
Maintain and contribute to technical documentation and user-facing guides
Assist with rollout and adoption of new pipeline tools, gathering artist feedback for future improvements
Qualifications
Passion for staying on top of the latest features in Houdini
2+ years experience supporting or writing Houdini pipeline code using Python
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfort working directly with artists to troubleshoot and resolve issues under production deadlines
Understanding of object-oriented programming patterns
Desire to probe and understand the inner workings of complex systems
Experience as an FX artist using Houdini in production is a bonus
PDG / TOPs experience is a bonus
90 000-140 000$ CAD a year
This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
