Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our dynamic team at Highmark Behavioral Health Center. Work Environment

This position offers a flexible remote work setting, allowing our counselors to provide services from the comfort of their own homes. Despite the remote nature of the role, our counselors are integrated into a supportive team environment, which fosters collaboration and continuous learning. Our outpatient office facilitates regular team meetings and case discussions to ensure that our staff remains connected and informed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based techniques tailored to meet client needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive treatment plans, ensuring they align with each client's goals and progress.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to create a holistic approach to patient care.
• Follow up with healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization to ensure continuity of care and support.
• Implement interventions designed to identify and mitigate behaviors that may hinder recovery processes.
• Engage and educate family members and primary caregivers on managing mental health challenges and supporting their loved ones’ well-being.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on supporting adults facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. You will employ a person-centered approach that respects individual experiences and empowers clients on their paths to recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; a Master’s degree in mental health counseling or a similar discipline is highly preferred.
• Valid LMHC licensure in New York State.
• Proven experience (2+ years preferred) as a Mental Health Counselor or in a similar therapeutic role.
• Strong understanding of pharmacological effects of medications on mental health as prescribed by medical professionals.
• Outstanding written and spoken communication skills, coupled with a genuine empathetic approach to patient interaction.
• Capacity to create rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in remote counseling and proficiency with teletherapy platforms.
• Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, DBT, or family systems therapy, is highly advantageous.
• Training or certifications related to mental health counseling.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 101,000 annually, commensurate with experience and productivity. In addition to the salary, Highmark Behavioral Health Center provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
