Position Description Summary:
The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS) invites applications for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure-track faculty position from an early-career faculty member. The department is home to one of the premier PA programs in the country and features a strong public health focus. In addition to the two-year PA program, awarding a Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS), the department also offers a combined three-year MSHS/Master of Public Health program in partnership with the Milken Institute School of Public Health. The department is committed to health equity, professional service, and interprofessional collaboration.
This non-tenure-track appointment, likely to start in Summer 2026, will be made at a rank of assistant or associate professor, with a salary commensurate with experience.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities will include efforts in GW's nationally ranked PA program. Duties will include teaching within the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Other responsibilities may include leading seminars and workshops, facilitating small group activities, assessing student learning outcomes, and advising students. Engaging in scholarly activities, providing service to the university and community, and advancing interprofessional and collaborative practices are also expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a graduate degree in a health professions field, such as physician assistants, physicians, or related professions, and have at least one year of experience teaching in a graduate program. Current board certification and eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and/or Maryland, as well as prior clinical teaching or other higher education experience, are required.
Advertised Salary:
$130,000 to $160,000
