Job description

Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Integration Engineer working in our Electrical Engineering group in Poway, CA. Engineers will support their sub-assembly design through manufacturing, initial testing, integration onto the physical aircraft and work among peers in a team environment, all within Poway.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the electrical Integration of avionics module and payloads into unmanned air vehicle systems.
  • Designing of cables and wire harnesses that interconnect electronic equipment within the vehicle.
  • Responsible for generating system cable interconnect diagrams, point-to-point cable wiring schematics, cable lengths, routing details, and cable BOM.
  • Responsible for integration tests to verify functional operation.
  • Responsible for generating test fixtures and test procedures for system level test.
  • Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems.
  • Familiar with applicable airworthiness and military standards.
  • Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience.
  • Must be able to work both independently and on a team.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
