Who you are:

As aSoftware Engineer III- Open Banking at Frost, you are our code guru, not only writing code but understanding the "why" behind it. Our software engineers believe in collaboration, ingenuity, and truly want to drive design and change in the IT realm. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, writing, testing, implementing, supporting, and documenting solutions for assigned programs and applications across the organization. You welcome a challenge and want to provide next level experiences to every individual that uses our systems.

What you'll do:

  • Design, write, test, implement, and document solutions for assigned program modules
  • Collaborate with and provide technical advice to Product Owners, Business Analysts, and lines of business to estimate level-of-effort, timing, and feasibility, to design new systems based on business requirements, and to optimize system and program functionality
  • Review coding for a group of software engineers to ensure alignment with business needs, change control procedures, and Frost development standards
  • Always take action using Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues across interrelated programs and systems and develop the appropriate solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 4 years of experience
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles, design patterns, and modern development methodologies.
  • Proven expertise in Java, SQL, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing and building scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise applications.
  • Proficient in developing REST APIs, API design, Spring Security, OAuth2/JWT, and service-to-service communication.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with API Gateway and API Management, including authentication, authorization, routing, rate limiting, and traffic management.
  • Proficient in unit and integration testing using JUnit, Mockito, and related testing frameworks.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
  • Knowledge of resiliency patterns including Circuit Breaker, Retry, Timeout, and Bulkhead.
  • Ability to lead technical design discussions, perform code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineering, architecture, security, product, and business stakeholders

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
  • Having knowledge on Banking and Financial is preferred
  • Knowledge of Open Banking, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), financial services platforms, payment processing, and industry security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, including cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools and engineering productivity platforms.
  • Familiarity with front-end and mobile technologies such as Angular, React, Kotlin, Swift, Xcode, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience contributing to architectural roadmaps, technology modernization initiatives, and platform engineering efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across multiple teams.
