Position Overview

First Hand Psychotherapy Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team. This full-time position primarily focuses on providing specialized mental health therapy to individuals who have experienced trauma, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will play a crucial role in helping clients navigate their recovery journey and rebuild their lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to understand clients' backgrounds and develop targeted treatment strategies.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique history and therapeutic goals centered on trauma recovery.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing.
  • Lead both individual and group therapy sessions, encouraging clients to process their trauma, develop coping strategies, and foster resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care and improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed, offering immediate support to clients during trauma-related emergencies.
  • Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and community resources available for support.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client documentation in accordance with legal standards and our organization’s policies.
  • Engage in regular case consultations and team meetings, contributing to an environment of mutual learning and growth centered on trauma-informed methodologies.
  • Stay abreast of current research and best practices in the field of trauma therapy to continually elevate the quality of care provided.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves individuals impacted by trauma, including survivors of abuse, violence, and other life-altering experiences. Clients may present with a range of conditions related to their trauma, necessitating an empathetic approach and a deep understanding of trauma-related disorders. Your expertise will directly impact their recovery trajectory, helping them regain a sense of control and stability in their lives.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Possession of a current and valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred and considered beneficial for the role.
Preferred Experience
  • Strong familiarity with trauma-focused therapy techniques and a solid understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver trauma-focused therapies and intervene effectively in high-stress situations with clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and client management.
  • A collaborative spirit, displaying the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this full-time position is competitive, at USD 90,000 to 110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to the salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
