Job description
The position is responsible for the quality, safety and soundness of the credit portfolio associated with the bank's consumer and small business portfolio. This is achieved through the review, proper structuring and appropriate decisioning of credit request; ongoing monitoring of the credit portfolio to identify problem areas and assure appropriate assignment of credit grades; providing assistance with structuring of workout solutions; and delivering ongoing coaching to lenders throughout the bank.
Specific job functions include efficiently reviewing and evaluating consumer and small business requests in order to approve or recommend approval to a higher authority within the bank's credit team. The role also involves making sound credit decisions based on established lending policies, maintaining compliance with lending laws and regulations, managing the inflow of credit requests to ensure timely decision-making, assisting lending officers in identifying risk and structuring credits, and assisting in the identification and remediation of problem loans.
Job requirements include the ability to understand accounting practices, knowledge of consumer and small business credit analysis, rendering timely credit decisions, knowledge of bank credit policy and regulatory requirements, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive customer information. Excellent computer skills and the ability to work independently are also required.
Education/experience requirements include a bachelor's or master's degree in business or a related field with a preference in finance or accounting, and a minimum of five years of experience in credit analysis, lending, underwriting or credit approval of small business and consumer loans.
