Vehicle Acquisition Specialist
Job Summary
The Vehicle Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring pre-owned vehicles for dealership inventory. Job Summary

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the used vehicle market, strong negotiation skills, and experience in wholesale, auction, or direct-from-customer purchasing.
Essential Functions
- Identify, evaluate, and acquire pre-owned vehicles through various channels (auctions, trade-ins, customer purchases, online platforms, lease returns, etc.).
- Conduct vehicle appraisals and valuations based on market trends, condition, and demand.
- Negotiate purchase prices to ensure profitability while maintaining competitive inventory.
- Maintain strong relationships with auction houses, wholesalers, and private sellers.
- Collaborate with the sales and inventory teams to ensure proper vehicle mix and timely stocking.
- Monitor and analyze used vehicle market trends to identify high-demand vehicles.
- Assist with customer vehicle buy-back and trade-in programs.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance for all vehicle purchases.
- Work closely with reconditioning and service departments to prepare vehicles for resale.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle purchases, condition reports, and pricing.
- Meet monthly acquisition and inventory turnover targets.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on acquisition needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in vehicle acquisition, appraisal, or used car sales.
- Strong knowledge of automotive market trends, vehicle values (e.g., Kelley Blue Book, Manheim Market Report), and appraisal tools.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficient in dealership management systems (DMS), inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Primarily based at the dealership, with occasional travel to auctions or off-site vehicle inspections.
