Through personalized guidance, meaningful connections, and a student-centered approach, Academic Advisors empower students to navigate their academic journey with confidence while preparing for success in their careers and beyond.
As a trusted partner and advocate, you will create an inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. By combining data-informed outreach with individualized advising, you will help students make informed decisions, engage with campus opportunities, and stay on track toward graduation.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide personalized academic advising that supports student success, growth, and belonging.
  • Empower students to be active, responsible learners by helping them make informed academic, career, and life decisions.
  • Guide students through course planning, registration, degree requirements, and academic progress toward graduation.
  • Build meaningful relationships through regular communication and proactive outreach.
  • Connect students with experiential learning opportunities, campus programs, and resources that enrich their Purdue experience.
  • Utilize data and student insights to identify opportunities for intervention, encouragement, and support.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources when additional assistance is needed.
  • Educate students about university policies, procedures, and academic systems while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve problems and utilize campus resources for individuals and groups

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
