Account Analyst
Position Summary:
Assist in planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining an effective and efficient program to ensure that Cri complies with Virginia Medicaid reimbursement cost reporting regulations and receives maximum reimbursement from the Medicaid program.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides primary support in various strategic and operational reimbursement issues related to Medicaid and State ICF/IID reimbursement and compliance.
• Review monthly expenditures for all ICF's to ensure proper support documentation provided within Medicaid requirements/guidelines. To include external transportation, day programs, purchase card transactions, etc.
• Assumes responsibility for technical aspects and results of multiple areas of Medicaid reimbursement components including, but not limited to, cost report preparation and appeals.
• Reporting and analysis related to State/Medicaid supplemental payment programs and issues. Plans, directs, and manages Medicaid external audits; resolves audit issues and responds to inquiries from Medicaid external auditors.
• Assumes responsibility for Medicaid settlement account monthly estimates, and related analysis and thirdparty audits.
• Calculates and prepares monthly journal entries for cost report adjustments.
• Assumes responsibility for accuracy of Medicaid cost report tentative and final settlements, communicates
problems to Medicaid, and directs departmental employees in handling related issues.
• Maintains current knowledge of federal and state Medicaid reimbursement and cost reporting laws, regulations, and manual instructions, keeping abreast of recent changes that may affect the department's policies and procedures through personal research, seminars, or peer contact. Takes necessary actions to implement appropriate processes and procedures to help ensure compliance within all departments.
Develops reimbursement compliance practices with affected departments to ensure activities' documentation meet the cost reporting requirements. Provides advice and direction to senior management, staff, and employees to appropriate compliance with Medicaid statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in preparation and dissemination of monthly financial statements, such as monthly statement of financial position, statement of activities, report on changes in financial position and budget variances.
• Recommends, designs, and implements any necessary department controls and procedures.
Other Job Functions:
• Adheres to internal controls, reporting structure and related duties.
• Supports budget processes and analysis as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Preferred or 5 years of relevant experience.
• Aptitude for technology.
• Demonstrated expertise in use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
• Experience in use of Sage Intacct or similar general ledger application.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of Medicaid reimbursement regulations.
• Knowledge of State/Medicaid supplemental payment programs and issues,
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Organization and analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Effective communication skills; ability to communicate well with coworkers in other departments.
• Ability to work independently
