Our focus on a patient-centered approach aims to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly residents at our outpatient clinic located in Boston, Massachusetts.

About the Organization

At Compassion Care Behavioral Health, we pride ourselves on being a leading provider of mental health services tailored specifically for older adults. Our interdisciplinary team is committed to addressing the unique emotional and psychological needs of seniors, particularly those dealing with loss, transitions, and other age-related issues. We are passionate about fostering a supportive and empathetic environment where our patients can seek assistance in navigating the complexities of aging.

This position allows counselors to work remotely, offering flexibility while contributing to a collaborative outpatient care team. Regular interaction with colleagues ensures effective collaboration and consultation, empowering counselors to provide comprehensive strategies and support. The typical workweek is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, fostering an organized and manageable schedule.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor will:

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific emotional and psychological care needs.
  • Provide both individual and group therapy focused on addressing challenges related to aging, such as grief, anxiety, and depression.
  • Work closely with healthcare teams to design and implement tailored care plans that provide holistic support for elderly residents.
  • Educate team members, families, and caregivers on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being of older adults.
  • Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families going through significant life changes.
  • Utilize cognitive stimulation strategies and evidence-based mental health interventions to promote mental acuity and engagement among seniors.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on serving geriatric clients, including those struggling with the complexities of aging, loss, health transitions, and related mental health issues. As part of our outpatient clinic, counselors engage directly with seniors to foster resilience and provide them with tools to cope, ensuring they receive the care and support tailored to their unique circumstances.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • At least four years of relevant experience in counseling, specifically with geriatric populations.
  • Expertise in delivering therapeutic interventions to address a variety of mental health challenges in elderly clients.
  • Strong communication skills and empathy to build meaningful connections with older adults.

While required qualifications set the foundation for this role, candidates with additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health, as well as familiarity with evidence-based practices geared toward promoting the mental wellness of seniors, will have a competitive advantage. Additionally, experience with teletherapy platforms and electronic health records (EHR) systems is advantageous as we embrace current technology in our practice.
