TheFacilities Technician II is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliantoperation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of plant utility systems andfacility infrastructure. This role ensures critical systems-including boilers,compressed air systems, HVAC, and supporting utilities-operate efficiently tosupport manufacturing operations in a regulated GMP environment.
Thisis an intermediate level position for a fully competent technician capable ofindependently maintaining and troubleshooting facility and utility systems withminimal supervision.
Responsibilities& Duties
  • Independently perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers and steam systems, compressed air, plant water systems (potable /deionization (DI)) and HVAC.
  • Perform routine operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical utility systems including:
  • Steam boilers and associated systems (feedwater, condensate return).
  • Compressed air (compressors, dryers, receivers, condensate management).
  • HVAC systems (air handling units, temperature/humidity controls, environmental conditions).
  • Plant water systems and general facility infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate logs for boiler operations, HVAC performance, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and basic electrical and control-related issues in facility systems and resolve routine issues.
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks per CMMS schedule. Maintain accurate maintenance records and close out work orders with full documentation in CMMS.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk problems appropriately to management. Coordinate with engineering and external contractors for complex issues.
  • Monitor system performance and take corrective actions to identify and document deficiencies and recommend improvements to maintain efficiency and reliability.
  • Respond to alarms and system deviations in a timely manner.
  • Support predictive maintenance activities (vibration analysis, thermography, inspections).
  • Perform repairs on equipment including pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA safety regulations and environmental and local regulatory requirements (e.g., PA DEP).
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Follow all safety procedures including lock out, tag out (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work permits.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to facility and utility operations.
  • Support site safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs and projects. Support root cause analysis and
  • reliability improvement efforts.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment.
  • Provide input on capital projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Mentor and support Level I technicians.
  • Be able to work independently with limited supervision.

MinimumRequirements
  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in industrial maintenance or facilities role. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (GMP, pharmaceutical, or food) preferred.
  • Certifications (Boiler Operator License, EPA Section 608 Certification, and/or advanced safety qualifications (confined space entrant, etc.)) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pumps, motors, valves, heat exchangers and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow).
  • Working knowledge of steam boiler systems and controls, compressed air systems, industrial HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.

Working Location
  • Position is 100% on site working in both the 415 and 420 buildings at Colorcon's West Point, PA manufacturing facility.
  • May require off-shift (rotation) or weekend work.
